The building consists of 4 major blocks: support podium/medical school; outpatient podium; inpatient tower and public atrium. The atrium is the most important element in this building and special attention was given to the structure, rhythm and canting of the glass wall. The wall is structural glass, while the skylit roof is held up by cantilevered steel trusses. This creates a column-free space along the west wall of the atrium, maximizing transparency to the forested hill and garden. The system not only creates a significant interior public space, but also a unique image for the entire building.

• Designed and developed the main atrium space that was the focal point of the project.

• Closely worked with the consultants onboard to create the innovative solution to capture the design concept and intent.

• Produced the design reports for the client presentations.
